Surah Baqarah Review.

Good Morning and  Evening depending on where you are in the world.   I hope and pray every one is in good health and spirits. So alhamdulilah everything is going well  went to my  Qur’aan lesson yesterday, then ended up having a  toothache so after battling that out the last couple of days I am finally back to normal .

Well I am currently review over Surah Baqarah and the moment, so   here is the dilemma  I  have  gotten  faced with. How to keep up  with reviewing.

So  to just give you a little insite  on Surah Baqarah.

This Surah is called (The Cow) and  it contains  286 verses, rendering it the longest Surah in the Holy Qur’an. It is indisputable that this Surah was not revealed all at once, but partially and in increments as necessitated by the various Islamic social circumstances and conditions found at different times in Medina.

So I am just thinking I will   block  this up so it does not be so over whelming.

I will  take a certain amount on day, and continue like this until I have  finished  reviewing the entire   Surah. Then I will put it all together for the final revision

I am  just wondering is there any one who has finished the   Surah or is nearing the end of it. How do you go about  reviewing it?

Any tips comments would be appreciated .

Thanks again for stopping by

Get in a Routine

I am here to tell you again. That the focus of my blog is not to see how fast we can memorize the Qur’aan but  how we can memorize and not forget  it. Because as you know to memorize and forget without a valid reason is a grave sin.  My focus is no matter  what age    you  are that anyone can memorize the Qur’aan and be  among the ones who Allah loves the most. It just time , effort  and a person who is really going to be dedicated to memorizing and  retaining Allahs  Book.

First I think its best to get in a routine a schedule . We need to have a set time every day  and  keep this time to focus on memorizing solely and have a special place were will will not  be distracted by anything or anyone .   Remember this is our special time with just  us and Allah, to  recite his words ,reflect and ponder over them.

One of the best times  I have realized to memorize is after  Salaatul Fajr

This is the best one   and when most everyone else is asleep.

Its very  quite and  this gives you time to focus on just you and memorizing

Please keep up with this time and always memorize  Do not miss. If you have to them make sure that you  make up what you miss.

Its very important that we do not miss one  day of memorizing .  I feel that when we do if we miss even one we will fall in to this habit and we do not want to do this.

So  please I  am stressing keep up with your review and dont forget.

Great Encouraging Video.

Tips to Help Your Journey Getting Started Memorizing Quraan

Get a good  qualified teacher, one who has studied  Quraan and knows the  Tajweed rules and has Ijazah to teach.      I  for one do not trust these online teachers. I prefer the one on one teacher who can see me  face to face ,  listen to me read and correct my mistakes if I  made any. With a person on line its hard to see  because you are behind a computer. I feel face to face contact is better But this is just me. But if you cant find a teach Do you best to   find one one line but make sure they are qualified to teach.  I  am a bit iffy about that my self. But  all is good in sha Allah.

Get an  English Translation of the   Qur’aan

I recommend every one have a copy of  the translation of Quraan in English or which ever country you are from , have one handy in your language.  Before I learned arabic  I had to do this  because  I wanted to be able to understand each  Surah I was reading and the Meaning and Story behind it .

Yusuf Ali

or Sahhih International are good translations

also you can go on line and  download on computer but I still enjoy having books.

MP 3  I recommend everyone  if you have   a smartphone, download Quran app to your phone so you can take it with you wherever you go and listen to the Quraan

Get a notebook  so you can  write down. It helps you keep up with progress and see how much you have grown and learned. Its also a good encouragement  for others .

Have a positive attitude  Always think positive

Have  good intention and keep them pure. Stay away from sin because this decreases knowledge , and Make  Dua.

May Allah Make it easy for us all who want to learn  his Book and  Implement in to our lives and teach others Ameen .

Million Dollar Question What it takes to Memorize the Quraan

Ok so here is the million dollar  question that I always here if not once but  a million times  a day.  Help me to  memorize the Qur’aan fast.  How can I do this?

Well I am sorry to tell you, honestly these people out here that  you seen on social media

such as facebook, twitter, and other sites promoting  memorizing Qur’aan at the speed of lighting. This is wrong.  People like this are just looking to make a fast dollar and even now days they will sell their deen just to get this.

There is no fast easy way to memorize. It takes  long hours, effort and hard work.

Because our goal here is to memorize and retain the Qur’aan.

I have seen many people who have memorized it even had their kids to, soon after to finish with the memorizing and end up after a year or so later   you go back and ask them and they have forgotten it. Forgetting the Qur’aan if a gave sin if there is no medial reason   or something  that is causing you to forget the  Quraan.   Now its just quick fix,  I want to get the Ijazah (certificate) to teach and show Ive finished. Now days memorizing Quraan has lost all its meaning people are just doing it to show off, and once they are done they do nothing to help spread the book of Allah and to teach it. Now its just  mearly another notch in the persons belt or they are just memorizing to make their self look good in the eyes of the public.

Even you have Sheikhs  and people who have memorized  who are encouraging people to memorize fast, and charing tons of money, getting rich off of the book of Allah. Its wrong and not right.  Memorizing Quraan need to go back to the way it was  during the   Times of Allahs Messenger  peace and blessings be upon him

Were the Sahabah ( Companions) would take years  to learn a Surah one in particular were.  It was  Abdullah Ibn Umar   SubhanAllah It took him  14 years  to learn Surah Baqarah  because he wanted  to learn a few ayats   and not go on to the next until he implement its teaching in to his  every day life. Not like people today who just a race against time. I have to finish the Quraan in a certain amount of time before so and so . Sadly this is what people in our generation have  come to forgetting the true meaning and being show offs. Astaghfirullah

It took Abdullah Ibn Umar 14 years to memorise Al-Baqarah, why?

Imam Ahmed narrates that Rasul Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said regarding something: “That would happen when knowledge is lost.” One of the Sahabah asked, “O Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam), how could knowledge be lost when we have studied the Quran, we are teaching it to our children and our children will teach it to theirs.” Rasul Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wasallam) said: “Woe to you! I thought you were one of the most learned men of Medinah. Can’t you see the Jews and Christians are not benefiting even though they have their scriptures (Torah and Injeel) right with them?”

This hadith makes clear that if there is no application of the Quran, its recitation becomes useless. If we know what the Quran contains but don’t apply it, we become like donkeys carrying books as our burdens, not benefitting from our loads.

How did the Sahabah study the Quran? If we take the example of Abdullah ibn Umar (radi Allahu anhu), it took him 14 years to finish memorizing Surah Baqarah. He was so happy after he completed memorizing it that he slaughtered a camel and invited all the people to come celebrate with him.

Abdullah ibn Umar (radi Allahu anhu) was a companion of Rasul Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) and the Quran was revealed in his own language. Abdullah ibn Umar (radiAllahu anhu) was also an eminent scholar. Then how is it that he took 14 years to memorize what is done nowadays by Muslims in a matter of months?

This is because the way that the Sahabah would study the Quran is that they would take ten ayaat at a time only. They would study these ten ayaat, study the eemaan, the ilm, the halal and the haram in these ayaat. They would memorize the ayaat and apply its rulings to their lives. They would not move onto the next ten ayaat until they had brought their lives into compliance with the first ten. The Quran thus became alive and second nature to them, its knowledge was not wasted and lost.

Mis- Conceptions About Memorizing The Qur’aan

So just a few backward misconceptions  that I have come across when I have  made mention to people that  I was memorizing Qur’aan

1…Only (Arab) people are allowed to memorize Qur’aan

( Umm… Really   Now.. Who told you this?  This is by far the silliest thing I have ever heard  in my life. Backwards and even  seems a bit racist dont you think, and  our Prophet Muhammad( peace and blessing be upon him ) did not teach us this.

In fact   what he taught us was that every one was created equal, and there is no difference in skin color,  that no arab , is better than a black, or white. except in  Taqwa( meaning Fear of Allah)

In the last sermon that  Allahs Messenger made he said :

All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over black nor a black has any superiority over white except by piety and good action. Learn that every Muslim is a brother to every Muslim and that the Muslims constitute one brotherhood. Nothing shall be legitimate to a Muslim which belongs to a fellow Muslim unless it was given freely and willingly.

2     Being a Native Arab  Speaker :

While this  has some truth I would like to point out many non arab foreigners have memorized the  Quraan I myself know many children  and aduts  who were not arab and    have done so  without understanding it, because it says in

Surah 54 Al: Q amar ayaah 17

وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا الْقُرْآنَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِنْ مُدَّكِرٍ

And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition?
So with that being said .  The Quraan has been made easy for any muslim/muslimah who wants to learn and memorize it.   ( In a later post I will give you some information on what to do if you are memorizing and you are not familar with the arabic language)  I  encourage all to memorize it but also have some sorth of understanding what you are reading so that  we as muslims can implement it in to our every day life, and be able to teach others.  So that we all can  get the rewards and benefits from it.   In sha Allah.
3.  The Qur’aan is a burden or its hard.
again this goes back to    how much effort you want to put in to this.  As I said before. It is not going to be a walk in the park. It will not be easy.  You will have to take some time out of your day to review the old what you have learned and the new Surahs.  Remember  Jannah is not Cheap, and if we knew the  blessing we get behind memorizing the entire Qur’aan then we should be running to do this. I find it really strange that some muslim  can sing the latest rap song with in seconds but  cant take a half hour or two out of your day to read the book of Allah.
What I see is people want to say they have memorized but not take the time to actually do it. They want to take the fast easy way out. It does not work like that. If we have time to get online chat with friends and family them surely we can read our Qurans more than once every Ramadan.  We all as  muslims really need to straighten up our priorities and get our acts together before its too late.
